Going After Musharraf?

From day one, I had no doubt that Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry was no hero. Only the images of his harassment by the police under Musharraf's orders turned this close friend of a dictator into a champion of democracy. This is Pakistan, where crooks are perfectly matched with a fake democracy designed to fool the masses and deliver nothing except crises and destruction.

The man was hand in glove with Musharraf. After his dismissal, his reinstatement became a personal crusade camouflaged as a battle for independent juduciary. As a proof that this was a battle devoid of any higher principle, Mr. Iftikhar Chaudhry did not hesitate for a second in mortgaging his 'cause' to the politicians. He let Aitzaz Ahsan use him to help Benazir Bhutto get a better deal from Musharraf. He then let both Zardari and Nawaz use him to win elections. And then he allowed Nawaz Sharif to use him to get back at Zardari.

Now that all the corrupt players of Pakistan's dirty politics have decided to end this issue through some kind of a secret arrangement, the Pakistani people and the media is beginning to smell rat.

To hide this rat, Iftikhar Chaudhry, Nawaz and Zardari are planning to raise a nonissue that they hope will distract the Pakistanis from discovering the truth. They are planning to go after Pervez Musharraf. If they do this, they'll get to hide the truth about why, for example, the newly reinstated chief judge won't go after President Zardari's NRO.

I'm writing someting about this shortly, backed by some startling information. Ali Khan, a Pakistani blogger based in the U.S. who edits PakistanFirst.com has also reported receiving information about moves in this direction. His information sources are often stellar.
If they indeed go after him, Mr. Musharraf has only himself to blame. He is the one who let Mr. Sharif leave the country back in 2000 despite serious allegations against the former premier. He's the one who listened to the Americans and agreed to the NRO, the most shameful piece of legislation even by the standards of Pakistan's fake democracy. And finally he is the one who let all his enemies gang up on him while he enjoyed the good life with his incompetent political allies.

  1. To make sense of moves by leaders and politicians in Pakistan I try to assess their motive and the possible effect on Pakistan. If the moves promise a better Pakistan, I can accept whever makes such moves. No one scores a 100%, but Musharraf scores highest and Zardari lowest- perhaps even a negative score as all his moves have damaged Pakistan.

  3. mr. parvez amin has made possibly the most intelligent point that i have read or heard in a while. unfortunately, not more pakistanis think this way. regardless of what musharraf did or didnt do, i for one cannot doubt his commitment or patriotism for his country. being the ruler of a country like pakistan is a job for maybe not even 1% of people. combine that with the international scenario post 9/11 and the on again, off again tension with india, to be president or PM and successfully navigate through tough situations is commendable. mr. amin is correct in saying that president musharraf easily scores highest when judging his actions on the basis of what is best for the country. these decisions may not always be popular, but that is the objective of good leadership. in a country like pakistan (or even like india which has more problems than pakistan), the ability to make good decisions is tough and complicated. pervez musharraf will go down in history in golden words for his stance for pakistan abroad, and for his dedication to turning the country around, politically, and socio-economically. people will themselves realize this.

  4. I said from the day one that this guy so call CJP IC is political drama played by these crooks Zardari, Nawaz and corrup lawyers of Pakistan who sell themselves infront of court of law for cheap Rs.
Mussaraf was indeed insane and was never a leader and was under pressure since 9/11.
Rest what should a say about Imran Khan, he is inexperience and emotinal leader who is good in leading 11 people but not the 17 crores but I still believe that he is honest man and wants to do something for the country and trapped under this this cunning trio of zaradari, Nawaz and lawyers movement / CJP.

  6. Mr. Parvez Amin's comment is thought provoking. Please email to every Pakistani journalist and TV news channel that you know. This is the kind of thinking Pakistanis should have about our politicians.

  7. To get Pakistan out of this current mess, we need a replacement of current corrupt government with a government formed by selecting well-reputed technocrats of Pakistan. This selection process should be done by the Pakistan Army or under her protection. This view is shared by Ahmed Quraishi, Zaid Hamid and many other faithful Pakistanis.

All the readers of this article, Please join me in spreading this message for the sake of our beloved Pakistan. The success of military intervention to install a government of technocrats SOLELY depends on how much our public is ready for that.

I have created a yahoo group: save our beloved pakistan(http://groups.yahoo.com/group/save_our_beloved_pakistan/?yguid=63739740)

I want the membership to be in 100,000s. Members will recruit more members to this point of view. We are only tasked to win minds. We don't need to lead any processions or get beaten by the police.

Once our target is convinced that Pakistan does not need democracy at this time, then we have attained our goals. We can also use this group to pressure the government to retreat from the wrong decisions. We can flood them with emails, phone calls, letters. The more we are, the more pressure we can exert.

  8. Musharraf should be tried for:

twice breaking the constitution under article6,

for selling sovereignty of Pakistan to US,

for handing over Pakistanis to the US just for the sake of little money

for killing our own people whether at Lal Masjid or on 12th May 2007 at Karachi .

for degrading Mohsin e Pakistan Abdul Qadeer

Musharraf has been a disgrace for Pakistan. After 2002 his policies were based on self projection and his lust for power. It is because of Musharraf that Zardarai is the President of Pakistan.
It is very important that Musharraf should be made an example for the leaders to come

  9. Agree with Mr Zafir. And also as alleged secretly spending nights on three occassions with ashwari rai-D'nlaw of A Bhajan, when her visit to Pakistan was specially arranged - rumoured through Fryal Gohar. The problem is not that the fellow had the entire sweet dish to himself but that pakistanis - our money- was spent for this.
When there are drunkards and womanisers at the helm of our country worst things be expected. Yahya khan, ZA Bhutto and mr musharraf, whom some of us nationalists are bent on ulogising- includes mr Ahmed Qureshi. Musharraf, famous for eyeing the wives of fellow officers, considered a great character flaw in the army, joined the US post 9/11 more to perserve his seat with the God given opportunity of US backing, against the saner advice of Generals Aslam Mirza and Hamid Gul. I agree that Nawaz is also selling his soul- price CM punjab. Asif zardari wants to keep every one on board so to reduce as much finger pointing at him on the alleged involvement by the masses in BB murder(coignitive dissonance?). His face as also that of R malikand S taseers stinks- the most hated individuals in order of priority. But have definitely been brought in by the CIA fellows. Now Holbrooke(jewish parents) has mentioned that their reps will be appointed at district levels in Pakistan, to monitor the funds distribution - there goes the last trance eof sovereignity that we claimed to profess. One more thing - Mr Qureshi you have never discussed the role of Altaf Hussain who keeps playing on the emotional pitch of the Muhajirs(?) in Karachi but goes to India to appologize for the partition. Under whose patronage he is that as an alleged terroristby a number fo quarters, he still got the citizenship of uk?When are his forces are going to be launched? How come he joined PPP whose hands he alleged have been soiled with the blood of Muhajirs? He as stated by mr mumtaz bhutto keeps shedding crocodile tears for sindh dharti has been stating that we will not allow any talibinization of karachi- where has he seen this? I have visited many madrassas during my visits to karachi- nothing of the sort is there- then why such statements? How come Asfand yar was called to US and made to visit an army unit and he too comes and votes for Zardari . Remember his father -mr Wali Kahn - what did he say about Bhutto the so called Shaheed? Fazalurahman whose father was extended the one of the worst brutility - courtsey Bhutto- also votes for Zardari!
About Imran Khan- I intend joining his party. Atleast he speaks of honour and dignity - words that none of our politicians illa J Islami-is familiar with.
Do we await to hear any discussions on the "missing politicians" from Mr Qureshi - otherwise u are doing an excellent job - only that sometimes ur emotional attachments may smother the true aspects of some of the personalities.

    1. Mr Betullah has claimed that he was behind the manawa attacks. but then who is behind Betullah?
    2. whom is he being supported by?
    - both men, mateial and weapons - modern ones which cannot be manufatured in FATA?
    3. Is he technically that advanced with a nominal education to be in a position to attack US as alleged by Mr Obama?
    4. If the management of Osama is that effective then how come he has not been able to muster surface to air missiles even from ex soviet region- (from even nuclear war heads are reportedly missing since long)against drone attcks?
    5. Where is the sat tracking? he uses mobile but cannot be tracked? 6. Pakistan wants the Pak Afghan border to be fenced and mined- but US and Afghanistan oppose - what is the problem? What is the end game?
7.How can the CIA installed fellows be removed and replaced with some one patriotic to the country rather than to the reputation of the murdered wife?
    8. Who will tell our PM that his loyalities not withstanding Quaids picture cannot be replaced by BB?
    regards
