  2. A QUESTION FOR GENERAL ASHFAQ KAYANI

In a press release dated 7/10/2009, Genral Kayani had expressed grave misgivings about the KLB (as it then was, before Obama’s signature turned it into USA law). However, he left it to Pakistan’s Parliament “to deliberate on the issue, enabling the government to develop a national response”. Subsequent events turned Parliament into a kind of circus. After just 3 days of debate the discussion on the bill was abruptly halted, no voting was allowed and the government bowed to the American insistence to accept the charity offered with all humiliating conditions intact. This effectively provided the Americans with an opening through which to influence Pakistan’s foreign and domestic policies and the promotions of senior military commanders.

Gneral Kayani has said nothing since. Why? I should have thought the abject surrender of the Pakistani government merited a response from General Kayani.

Our Armed Forces are now fighting the rebels in South Waziristan but we have not been informed what the goals of this campaign are and what the next step is going to be once the insurgency in South Waziristan has been subdued.

The Pakistani nation also has the right to know the sordid details of the arrangement that the traitor Busharraf had made with the Americans. Pakistan does not just belong to those who somehow acquire power and then treat the country as a personal fiefdom. GENREAL KAYANI, PLEASE REVEAL THE DARK SECRETS OF BUSHARRAF’S DEAL WITH THE AMERICANS.

  3. @ Sakib Ahmad, Given the extreme chaotic condition Pakistan is through right now, it is not very much wise to start unfolding the blunders of previous filthy leaders. Everyone knows Musharaf's interests and his American loyalties are all already exposed. We, the Pakistanis should not ask someone engaged in such an aggressive and decisive war to get into such debates, nor should we doubt the intentions of General Kyani. Second, you want General Kyani to tell the nation about what is the agenda of this military engagement as well as what follows next and which is very reasonable to ask. Also you expressed your concerns about the silence of military over the Kill Bill. My observation is, General Kyani, seen those humiliating and insulting conditions in the bill, could not resist himself sending the message to govt. to sever ties with america. But a very important factor, in my view, is that army is deliberatly avoiding over-involvement in the issues of governance and not trying to be too much in touch with the nation. Army is very thoughtfull at the moment and can sensibly foresee that if it involved too much in governance issue, these nasty leaders will straight away blame army that it is trying to shatter (so called) democracy and we pakistanis, taking it on the face of it, will start descrediting the military given the fact that mushraff did a lot to shatter the credibility of army (which now army is earnestly seeking to restore). Army compelty realises the fact that it needs nation to stand along it, and for gaining public trust, which this Kyani deserves, army is away from political issues. However it still nicely conveyed its message over Kill Bill to everyone. And this Kill Bill is nothing but a slap on the face of this democracy if it still accepts it, giving such a concrete public opposition to it. Army is doing , however the best and we should be united in endorsing the courage and confidence to Pak Fouj.

  4. It would be nice to have some sort of response from General Kayani himself. We do live in very troubling and confusing times. Nothing is as it seems.

Take our armed forces' action in South Waziristan. We have to exercise extreme care not to fall into a trap set by the Americans. The advance into Waziristan was preceded by attacks on our military's nerve centre and indiscriminate killing of civilians. As I see it, these incidents were designed to push our armed forces into Waziristan. As soon as our armed forces moved against the rebels and their foreign backers, two things happened:

    (1) The duplicitous Americans removed the checkpoints on the Afghanistan side of the border, to encourage terrorists to cross into Pakistan and fight Pakistan's army.

    (2) A large number of Iran's Revolutionary Guards were murdered in carefully planned suicide attacks by American controlled terrorists, who are thought to have crossed the border from Pakistan's Balochistan into Iran's Sistan. This was a nasty attempt to sour relations between Pakistan and Iran, destabilising Pakistan's last remaining peaceful border.

I suspect the American plan is to create conditions which will force Pakistan's army to move up from South Waziristan into North Waziristan and fight America's dirty war. Unless General Kayani dissociates himself from the gang of traitors in Islamabad and follows an independent defence policy, Pakistan is doomed.

Busharraf had allowed large numbers of American soldiers and mercenaries into the country - and in recent months Ghaddari has done his best to outdo Busharraf in this respect - who are suspected of plotting and co-ordinating the bombings and mass murder of Pakistani citizens. The Islamabad traitors are silent even though they must have received intelligence reports from ISI with damning evidence of American complicity in spreading terror in Pakistan's civil society. Our civilian dictatorship, which owes its power to the Americans, will not kick out the American enemy in our midst.

What, then, is the solution? The Pakistani nation, I think, will back General Kayani if he chooses to follow an independent defence policy and takes tough measures against the enemy in our towns and cities. This will inevitably lead to a head-on collision with Pakistan's civilian dictatorship and enrage the Americans. It is essential, therefore, that General Kayani makes it crystal clear that he has no designs to govern Pakistan as a ruler. Our armed forces are there to protect the country, not to govern it. The country has suffered enough at the hands of military dictators such as Busharraf and others before him.

  5. @Saikib ....I must appreciate you analysis and concerns regarding current scenario of country .But what realy troubles me is "no platform of mobilizing all these spirits and zeals as unified force .
I have been visiting all around to see views and reviews of young blood which is extremly encouraging ..but i fear if that wont be materialized .

    ReplyDelete
  6. @ Shaikh.Fingers crossed! Shaikh Sahb, dont you feel that this very website is itself an evidence of youth on the way of being unified! When the young blood boils, it makes its way through. It automatically develops a platform for itself and this is what's happening now, steadily but surely. And our vision would be materialised, or let me say, we know how to materialse our vision for a great and dignified nation. One evidence for this materialisation underway,is that today young people realise their priorities and their national stakes and are much more knowledgeable than ever.I see a clear image, way not too far when our vision will definitely be materialised because I believe, change starts from the realisation of "Need to Change", which we all very well feel today. Let's hope for the best.

  7. @All while i am posting these comments , My heart has already wrenched to witness yet another terror in peshawer . Life in my watan has been so cheap that now what counts is quantity of death .

@Muhtrama Sidra .. i agree this page may work to provide platform to blow our anger , frustration , and suggestion and every thing . but what i believe is practical implementation mere than words. I dont doubt your intentions and Patriotic resolve. But it again puts us in category of Rehman Malik who always keep boosting of victory over terrorism while things depicts contrary situation. Mere Cyber War cant benefit at a great deal . Go back to History, Revolutions always got witnessed through Bloody movements and decisive clash Weather it be "French , Russian or Iranian" . Youth has to come out , forget about their carriers , forget about their self well being , forget about their futures, and struggle hard to gift our Generations with tremendous and glorified future.
In between i dont call for violent movements but shift of platform from cyber pages to streets , roads , and grounds to affect mainstream policy makers. Other wise these are simply words. (Becuase this medium is extensiverly used by educated class excluding our "Dehatis"""...Think over it !!!!)

@Sakib ...Yes i agree with you Army has been glorified to be Holy these days . But That was army who has done mistakes too . Our Military Establishment has to set its direction right in favor of prime national interest.

  8. The reason we are unable to turn our analysis into concrete action is quite simple, I think. Though our political independence has now been diluted by the USA, and Pakistan is being reduced to the status of a client state, intellectually and spiritually we Pakistanis gave up our freedom long ago when we decided to impose an alien language and culture on ourselves. The loss of political freedom is an inevitable consequence of voluntary surrender of our language, our Deen and the noble aspects of our culture. This has given rise to the ridiculous situation where the old colonial system has been sustained by a minority of Pakistanis: fewer than 5% of Pakistan’s population – the “English educated” class - rules over the remaining 95% which lacks the resources to join the “haves” in their senseless aping of the ways of the Americans and the British. Those of us who have remained patriotic despite our ”English education” are a small minority. Before Pakistan’s rotten “elite” completes the sell-out to the Americans, we need to cast off our spiritual and cultural habits of slavery or there will be no way back out of the USA’s stranglehold.

This month I began a blog, which has so far 3 items in it. The issues I have alluded to in the paragraph above are dealt with at considerable length there. The blog address is http://sakibahmad.blogspot.com.

In today’s issue of The News International, one of its regular columnists, Ms Anjum Niaz, has made some quite astonishing revelations (probably, they are not ‘revelations’ – it is just that I was unaware of the events Ms Niaz mentions). That General Kayani had played a key role in putting together the monstrosity that came to be known as National Reconciliation Ordinance (read “National Robbers Organisation”) came as a huge surprise to me. It is clear now that the Americans had used him when they needed him to serve their interests. Subsequently, they stabbed him in the back with the dagger of KLB. You can read Anjum Niaz’s column here: http://www.thenews.com.pk/daily_detail.asp?id=205482

GENERAL KAYANI, PLEASE DRAW UP AN INDEPENDENT DEFENCE POLICY THAT TAKES INTO ACCOUNT PAKISTAN’S INTERESTS, NOT USA’s. REFUSE TO OBEY THE AMERICANS’ COMMANDS AND EXPOSE THE PAKISTANI TRAITORS IN POSITIONS OF POWER. WHERE YOU HAVE EVIDENCE OF FOREIGN INVOLVEMENT IN TERRORIST ACTIVITIES WITHIN PAKISTAN, PLEASE ARREST THE CULPRITS AND PUNISH THEM – AND DO TAKE THE CHIEF JUSTICE INTO CONFIDENCE SO THAT YOU ARE NOT LATER ACCUSED OF EXTRA-JUDICIAL MEASURES.

  10. @Muhtarma Sidra .. Thats where our problems are !!! when we throw biased perceptions by associating an individual's characters with entire community .I guess either you haven't been to Sindh or You have your belongings in some elite class culture , there fore you straight away talk about Sindhis. Rest assure, Sindhis have tremendous love depth with pakistan as any pakhtoon , baloch , punjabi ,or saraiki or muhajir have. i have witnessed rallies with immense fervor and patriotic enthusiasm on victory of Pakistan Cricket team (Given the fact that no Sindhi speaking ever got his selection in national team) . I have witnessed an anger and fury in entire Sindh against America, India, ISreil, jst Bcoz they are conspiring against Pak. I have witnessed Sindhi's Love with moral , cultural values , and above all Love with DEEN E ISLAM . So Please never doubt any one's "Fellings" unless you are up with complete and authentic facts or research work. Anf for you kind information Mr 10% is never glorified even by common and unaware Sindhi, so make your facts correct.

  11. Shaikh sahb tussi te mind hee kar gey,,,I know how patriotic and loving Sindhi people are,,,this was just that i was trying to burst out my anger over this Zardari Regime. Look, the current situation can even turm me into a racist while i always speak of and believe in national unity. I dont believe in provincialism and I have a very very strong bond with sindh, for some reasons. Specially, I like Sindhi language very much, the way they speak is very adorable.I also know to a great extent that Sindhi people are very kind at heart and pious in character, especially people from rural areas are very nice. This frustration that I m experiencing does creat some negative feelings but that is purely for the traitors whoever they are, sindhi, punjabi or whatever. We are all pakistani and I dont think there is much racism in us, except someone makes a stupid statement like me, out of anger with the current unstability and the way these nasty leaders are running state of affairs in our pak watan.

  12. @Muhtarma Sidra ..No mind , no Worriess . Its all part of Game .
I am representing Sindhi's here as Pakistani not as "Sindhi".

@All ..Despite the fact that today we are passing through critical times , turmoil , chaos , instability...But what is more inspiring is talent of Youth , and passion to bring the change in ..I personally know few special people who have love with pak at an extent of obsession , they are extremely emotional when it comes to pak ....All credits to Pak land who has given birth to such beautiful people ...

I am looking for more people here ..whey aren't they here !!!!!!!!!!

This is worth watching and its also available on top right panel, under Ahmad Qureshi's Fan Box; you will have to navigate down.
Well, what should be done at this tragic moment,,,the qustion is difficult to answer. I am not in pak otherwise I would have seen people like Zaid sahb to get some direction upon. As far as now, I can concentrate my career with a view to help my country through my expertise in the long run. That perhaps will add to my resources I can think of deploying for a better future of Pakistan. However, what should be short run? I feel myself lacking of thought when it comes to that point! But, I can pray,,,,,,,,,,and I do.

  15. The desperate situation we are faced with demands immediate action to deal with the American menace. At the same time, however, we have to formulate a long term strategy to put our country back on the rails.

Firstly, we have to re-discover our Pakistani identity based on Islam as Deen and not as a religion with multiple sects, where power-crazed people invent new rules to suit their selfish whims (those who are unclear about the difference between Deen and religion may wish to read ‘What is Islam?’ article here: http://sakibahmad.blogspot.com/2009/10/islam.html ). If we had been able to implement Islam as Deen, an immoral drunkard and womaniser such as the traitor Busharraf could not have become the most powerful man in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Nor could another Ghaddari have followed him and attempted to complete the sell-out of Pakistan that his predecessor had begun. Nor, indeed, would it have been possible for General Kayani to obey the orders of the sorceress Condi Rice and to work with her on the NRO abomination.

Secondly, we need to free ourselves of a deep inferiority complex which makes us subservient to all things western. We tend to underestimate what is truly ours and overestimate imported ideas. The way we have dishonoured our own language and elevated a foreign language to create two nations of “haves” and “have-nots” is truly astounding. This has perpetuated a colonial system and given rise to great injustice and wanton loss of our intellectual resources {you can read about this in more detail here: http://sakibahmad.blogspot.com/2009/10/slow-pace-of-pakistans-economic.html ).

To implement the long term strategy requires a radical overhaul of our educational system. The three-tiered structure of “English medium” schools, the madrassahs and the state schools need to be merged into a single uniform structure. This is not the place to go into that in any sort of detail - the subject deserves nationwide discussions. However, we also need to bear in mind that if we become too occupied with the long term we run the risk of losing touch with events which have an immediate impact on us. Hence the need for a short term strategy.

Pakistan is today faced with the twin evils of American intervention in Pakistan’s internal affairs and the insatiable greed of our National Robbers. These robbers occupy the seat of government and they are being blackmailed by the Americans, who know all their dirty secrets. No wonder that the Interior Ministry under its controlling Robber is allowing the Americans to flood into the country and import weapons illegally. You could certainly try street demonstrations and do whatever you can to increase people’s awareness of what is going on. However, I happen to hold the view that the key personalities in Pakistan today are General Kayani and Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry. Although General Kayani has been tainted with his close association with the notorious Busharraf, he is nonetheless a decent person and one would hope he has learnt the lessons from past mistakes. In the short run, therefore, it is to these two sons of Pakistan that I am appealing.

Although the action in South Waziristan has been forced on us by the Americans, it may yet backfire on them. Our armed forces appear to be subduing the rebels there (something that the Americans have singularly failed to achieve against the freedom fighters in Afghanistan). This is only one-half of the job that General Kayani ought to be doing. Equally important is the need to confront the enemy within head-on: the traitors in the Interior Ministry and the American soldiers and mercenaries laden with illegal weapons, who appear to be orchestrating the terrorist outrages in Pakistan. General Kayani has to arrest and punish the foreign terrorists in our midst though our corrupt politicians and traitorous police chiefs will do their best to protect them. Yes, this will amount to a confrontation between the military and the corrupt civil authority – but is there an alternative?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Is there an alternative? Even If there is one, is that implementable? I am sorry I can only add to the questions that every patriotic pakistani holds in mind today. As to the answer, I am empty handed rather empty minded!
Getting back to a few of your valuable and nice suggestions, I must say that as far as Zardari and Musharaf are concerned, their intents are no more concealed.
But more important now is the authority and capacity of Kyani.I am already aware of what few papers and few ministers utter about Kyani. However we must be careful of a peculiar practice followed by the current political leaders that whoever they fear from, they hurl a "Defamation Campaign" against that element. It might not be true but its my observation, look at the Dogra Drama before floating NRO to the court of law, then look at the plot allotment scandal on media and recently, a bill that is under discussion banning media to talk anything about terrorism, prime minister, and president. I agree that terrorism should not be too much dissected in the media but on the name of it, they are merely trying to shut the mouths against corrupt leaders by inserting such clauses(watch Off the Record, 29 Oct 2009). So, don’t always believe in stories these rented pens project and fabricate. Majority agrees that Kyani is a gentleman and is not gonna involve in menial betrayal, Allah knows the best.
As you rightly said that a pure Islamic system in place would have cured us of being rotten from the diseases like Musharaff and Zardari, but my concern is,,,What should we do now when it has already got to happen!
Islamic system in place, you are right.
Urdu language, and getting rid of this inferiority complex, you are absolutely right.
Strong and well established education system, you are right.
All the ministers and ministers of the ministers are corrupt, you are right.
They are not standing against American interference, you are right.
BUT, question remains unanswered,,,,,,,,,,,,Because, whatever you have suggested is, if ever in place, could definitely not put us in the present state of sorry, but it is all like a Vaccine that can be used before we trapped into a lethal and fatal disease. Your suggestions, if in place, would have guaranteed a strong immune system against these nasty bugs. But, what we need today is a potent Drug to Cure the Disease after we are suffering from it. Its too late to go for a vaccine.
A suggestion for trying a Peaceful Demonstrations is not too bad. By the way if you are a Pakistani who is well aware of our culture, you will definitely be skeptical as to how much this suggestion will be effective. The way Govt. has defended its stance on KLB despite all the hue and cry from media, is all known.
Well, I am again left with the same option; I can pray,,,,,,,and I do.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Another thing, as long as English is used as a medium of communication, among common mates and especially the people with English as a second language, we all should be simple. I use my academic excellence in terms of english language only when i have to do it, that is when i engage in academic writings and research projects that I have to present to some professionals or when I am being tested on my competence. In casual affairs, like blogging here, if we use too much of indigestible, hard core academic english phrases, it will imperil our effort to come here and share our views because for an average person, with an average level of english competence, will hesitate to share his or her thoughts after viewing some hard English ones here, because he will feel himself inferior and less learned. if one has to write in a paper, journal article, or academic essays I am a big supporter of the most sophisticated english expression, that will not be very appropriate here for blogging. We will be conveying our views to lesser Pakistani people and will not be encouraging them to share their views such that they feel comfortable in expressing themselves. I might be totally wrong in my point of view, but this is just what I think.
It’s just an opinion with no intention to enforce it to someone who does not agree with it.
So, I don’t intend to anticipate any harsh feelings please. If someone likes, can go for it, If not, can simply ignore it.

  18. I wonder if this is a case of not being able to see the wood for the trees? I did suggest two short term strategies as a temporary fix while we work on agreeing a long term national policy. The action to be followed immediately has a general and a specific element: talking extensively to friends and relatives + street demonstrations, and putting pressure on Gen. Kayani and CJ Iftikhar Chaudhry to acknowledge the wicked designs of the USA – with India in tow – on Pakistan and take strong action to root out terrorism against Pakistan at its source. Does anyone know their e-mail addresses?

Yes, the despicable Dogar is having his dori pulled by equally loathsome opportunists. However, the source of Gen. Kayani’s past indiscretions is Anjum Niaz, a reputable journalist. Let us have the courage not to flinch from the truth.

Hillary has been and gone. Though some pretty sharp retorts were given to some of her inane statements, these did not go far enough. In any case, long experience of statecraft has given this lady the necessary cunning to evade questions she doesn’t want to answer. A taste of Hillary:

‘With initial campaign in Swat and now in South Waziristan finished, I think the Pakistani military would have to go on to root out other terrorist groups or else they could come back to threaten Pakistan,’

She is spot on! We do need to deal with the American terrorists in our midst who are threatening Pakistan by funding and training the bombers.

‘I understand priority for Pakistan will be focussing on those that are attacking you. That has to be your priority.’

Right again, Hillary. Full marks to you! So, when are you going to withdraw your private armies from our cities? Will we have to kick them out, do you think?

‘I find it hard to believe that nobody in your government knows where they are and could not get them if they really wanted to.’ [this is a reference to what the Americans refer to as ‘Al Qaeda leadership’]

You have rather flopped here, Hillary. What a let-down after your brilliant start above! Truth to tell, Hillary, we are more worried about those “attacking us”, as you so succinctly put it.

Mashriq mei.n asool deen ban jaate hai.n
